Bistro Les Gras, offers a relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy comforting French cuisine made from New England's bounty. The French experience doesn't have to be fine dining and we're here to bring the wonderful atmosphere of a neighborhood bistro straight from France to the Pioneer Valley! Bon Appétit!
What does "Les Gras" mean?
People have been asking why we named the restaurant Bistro Les Gras. First and foremost it is the name of a beautiful village in the southeast of France bordering Switzerland. We have been trying to visit Les Gras for a number of years with no avail. In honor of our efforts, we have decided to bring a little bit of Les Gras to Northampton.
Les Gras also means "the fats," in terms of culinary uses. We know that French food can have a poor reputation when it comes to eating light and we would like to show you that French food can be prepared in a style that is not all butter and cream. French food is clean and complex. We liked the play on words so we ran with it.
